Privacy

This page says what the site keeps about you, where, and for how long.

What stays in your browser

  • Your pet. The species, breed and name you enter are saved in your browser, so the site can show your pet's designs on every page. We receive your pet's name only when you put it on something in your cart; the pictures for the breed you choose load from our site like any other picture.
  • Our tools. The calculators, sheets, cards, posters and flyers work on your device. Nothing you type into them is sent to us, except the ZIP code you enter in walk and weather, and a photo you add is read and drawn on your device, never uploaded. The pet sitter sheet and the packing list remember what you entered in your browser, so it is there when you come back.
  • Walk and weather. The ZIP code you enter goes to our weather service, which looks up the National Weather Service forecast for that place. We do not save it or connect it to you. It stays in the page's address, so you can bookmark your forecast.
  • The calm player. It remembers your last choices (species, situation, timer and volume) in your browser, and whether this device was unlocked by email. The audio itself comes from our site, like any picture.
  • Search. The search box looks through a list of the site that your browser downloads, so what you type is not sent to us. A link you share to a search carries its words, like any address.
  • Small things. How many items are in your cart, and whether you chose to shop without your pet for this visit, so the page can show them straight away.
  • Clearing it. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.

Cookies

We set four cookies. Each is needed for the site to work, and none is used to follow you:

  • one holds your shopping cart;
  • one keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days;
  • one, while you sign in, checks that the link you open is the one we sent you. It lasts 15 minutes;
  • one, if you unlock the calm player by email, remembers that this device is unlocked. It lasts a year.

Your cart and your orders

When you add something to your cart, what you chose and how it is personalized (your pet's name and the design) go to our shop, which runs on Shopify.

You pay at the checkout of Steady Compass Goods, the shop behind this site. Your name, email address, shipping address and payment are entered there, and the privacy policy shown at that checkout covers them.

After you order, we keep the order record: the order number, what you bought, how it was personalized, the print file, and a one-way code made from your email address rather than the address itself. We keep it so we can find and remake a piece if something goes wrong.

Printify, which makes and posts our pieces through its print partners, receives the print file and the name, address and phone number you gave for delivery, because it needs them to make and post your order. It does not receive your email address from us.

If you make an account

You sign in with your email address; there is no password. We send the sign-in link from hello@biscuitandyarn.com through Resend, our email service. A link works for 15 minutes.

We keep your email address encrypted. An account whose first sign-in link is never used is removed after a day.

On the sign-in page, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a program, is asking for the link.

Counting visits, without tracking you

We run no advertising and no tracking pixels, nothing on this site follows you to other sites, and we do not sell or share your personal information.

Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host, it handles the requests your browser makes, including your IP address and the address of the page you ask for, to deliver the pages and keep the site safe. It keeps short-lived records of those requests, which we can use to fix problems, and it shows us totals, such as how many pages were viewed and from which countries.

To count page views, our pages also load Cloudflare Web Analytics, a small script from our host. It reports which page was viewed, the site that linked to it, and the kind of browser and country a visit came from, and we see these only as totals. Cloudflare says it uses no cookies or browser storage for this and does not fingerprint visitors.

Email

We email you only when you ask us to: a sign-in link, or an answer to a message you sent. Order confirmations come from the checkout.

The calm player unlock. When you enter your email to unlock the calm player, this device is unlocked straight away, and we keep your address encrypted, with the words you agreed to and when, and whether you were playing for a dog or a cat and which situation.

Our notes. At the same moment we add your address to our mailing list at MailerLite, our newsletter service, with whether you have a dog or a cat. We do not send a confirmation email first. We send occasional notes about new tools and designs, and every note has a link to stop them. MailerLite counts which notes are opened and which links are clicked.

Children

This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

Write to hello@biscuitandyarn.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, including your account. We delete everything we can; the record that a payment happened is kept where the law requires it.
